ECU Group - decision makers

Nigel joined ECU in 2007 as non-executive Chairman. Nigel has many years' experience in asset management and investment banking having been Chief Executive of County NatWest Investment Management in the early 1990s. After County NatWest he was Global Head of Research at UBS, before becoming Deputy Global Head of Equities at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson. Most recently Nigel founded Devonshire Partners in 2003, an executive search firm which specialises in the asset management industry.

Michael is Chief Investment Officer and Chairman of ECU's Investment Committee. He has 20 years of experience in trading currencies, having been continuously responsible for the management of FX products at ECU since he co-founded The ECU Group in 1988.

 

 

Alexander is the Chief Operating Officer at ECU. He started work at N.M. Rothschild & Sons in the city, before founding Bede Securities Limited. In 1988 he founded Cleveland Capital Management plc which became ECU's largest competitor and which was acquired by ECU in 1992. He rejoined the board of ECU in 2004.

Neil Mackinnon Neil Mackinnon

 

Neil is ECU's Chief Currency Strategist and a member of ECU's Investment Committee (since 1998). Neil was formerly Chief Currency Strategist at Citibank and Merrill Lynch, and Chief Economist at the hedge fund Nexus, then part of Soros Fund Management. From 1982 to 1986, he was an economist with HM Treasury where he worked for the Chancellor of the Exchequer and other UK Treasury ministers.

 

Charles co-founded the ECU group of companies in 1987 and left in 1995 following the sale of its derivatives business, ECU Futures. Charles then founded IFX Markets where he initiated the reverse takeover of Zetters Group plc in 2000. He joined IG Group as Head of Business Development in January 2005 before rejoining ECU in November 2005.

Philip Manduca Philip Manduca

 Philip joined ECU in November 2007 as Head of Investment, prior to which he was Chief Investment Officer of Titanium Capital. Philip has a distinguished career in investment management. He was Head of Asset Management at Dexia Asset Management and Chef Investment Officer at Sant Cassia Investment Management, an FX and Global Macro firm where he had a 9-year investment track record without losing a year. Philip was also Executive Director at Daiwa Europe responsible for trading and a Director at Rouse Woodstock.
